Do the AC hoses have to be changed when converting from R12 to 134?

.........No, they do not HAVE to be changed. ;-)

If so do the fittings need to be O ringed?

......... No, the fittings do not NEED to be O ringed. ;-)

Thanks in advance for your aid. Tom

HOWEVER, if you still have the original hoses, they are finished with their useful lifespan.
AND, the 134a molecules are smaller than the R12, and a special 'barrier' hose is recommended for 134a.

Likewise, the flare fittings on the old hoses are sufficient, but the O ring style is a better seal.

Soooo, unless you like leaking out the new 134a charge, and having the system gum up or fail,
you SHOULD be replacing all the hoses including new fittings, and the drier, and flushing the condenser
and the evaporator and checking the expansion valve screen, and adding a high/low safety shut-off
pressure switch to the compressor 12 VDC feed.

And are you planning on keeping the old York compressor? The seals and old oil in it are NOT compatible with
the 134a lubricant oils.

There is a correct way to do a 134a conversion, and there are ways that others will say have worked just
fine for them.

It's your dice that you are rolling.
