This was a hoax, but the gun community should not be surprised if SOMETHING comes down the pike because the industry / hobby is not policing itself.

My understanding is that while law abiding citizens go to gun shops, apply for a permit, wait 7 days, whatever, a person can just go to a gun show and buy a semiautomatic assault rifle and not even show ID.  Here in CA there is also a problem where people buy handguns then sell them on to criminals-- I mean buying 6 a year and if asked where they are the person says "It got stolen,  or I lost it."

*I* wish that when people receive ridiculous e-mails warning about this or 
hat dire circumstance that is about to befall us, whether it's a computer 
irus that is going to eat our hard drive, or a piece of legislation that 
ill force us into chains, that they would take two seconds to verify their 
eracity before blindly shotgunning them out to everyone then know....
