That much carbon means massive oil problems. The cylinder has two openings: 
one at the top and one at the bottom. So, for the top: Valve guide seals 
plus bad guide(s) or maybe a burned valve
For the bottom: cracked piston with/without a broken ring -maybe the oil 
ring. 

Junk the cast dish pistons- they give 8-1/2:1 compression and in all 
liklihood were bad before you rebuilt the thing. I've had the entire top of such 
pistons break off and begin flying up & down in a cylinder with each 
combustion event like an aluminum washer.   Good luck- J Deryke
