When I did the research for a new cordless drill/driver this last spring, my
DeWalt had died after 20 years, I went straight to looking for a new DeWalt.
I had a hard time on the websites I read through finding one good review in
the recent crop of DeWalt drivers. Most had to do with the decline of
product quality, and difficulties with the chuck being out of alignment with
the shaft so bad the it snapped drill bits. Then difficulties with returns
and getting a machine that was just as bad as the first. I went with a
Makita, and it has been excellent. Actually found the best price on Amazon.

 Bill,

You can never go wrong with the 18 volt XRP Dewalt tools.

Used them for years courtesy of my contractor employer, and now have a full
set for my own use. The impact driver is awesome, and the jigsaw is the best
I've ever used, corded or cordless.

They show up in these hard economic times, often like new, on Craig's list
at very nice pricing.

Buy extra XRP batteries, new and sealed in package only, from eBay for
waaaay less than retail.

Larry
