[DeTomaso] removing second set of stock rear brake calipers?

The nylon sliders on all the rear calipers may need a small spot of oil or
light grease once in a while. Proper operation of rear calipers means the
whole caliper slides back & forth- either when the hydraulic brakes are
touched or when the e-brake handle is pulled. Some simply get dirty & sticky.
You don't say whether all 4 rear calipers are plumbed into the hydraulic
lines. If so, depending on what master cylinder your car has and what other
mods the brakes got, it may be a caliper is varnished up and needs disassembly
and cleaning. Also, there is often a device called a 'residual pressure'
valve in the rear brake circuit. The valve may be varnished inside, or someone
may have used the wrong RP valve for the application.
Finally, a brake rotor is designed to wobble ever so slightly and this
knocks the brake pads back a few thousandths, providing some running clearance.
Some owners go to enormous lengths to eliminate any wobble or run-out, and
wind up with pads that constantly drag the rotors and have short operating
lives. Good luck- J Deryke.
