[DeTomaso] Resistor in coil wiring?

Mikael, do NOT wire accessories such as electric chokes to the ignition hot 
wire. Doing so in a Pantera, it acts as a very effective rev-limiter due to 
the voltage drop that results at the coil. You'll get mysterious misses and 
poor running etc at around 4200 rpms. I expect the Longchamp will behave 
similarly- not what you want in a "Gentleman's Express". 
As Roland said, 9 volts is the bare minimum for ignitions to work. A 
possible solution is to wire the electric choke to the 'Field' post of the 
alternator. It's switched DC and while its output is only 6 volts, the choke can be 
adjusted to accept this. good luck- J DeRyke
