The same Ford part number was used for the BOSS 302 and BOSS 351 ONLY with
the single groove keepers.
They are NOT interchangeable with all the other keepers that use 3 grooves.
You must replace both the keepers ANd the collars as a set with the valves
to get acceptabler results.

C9ZZ-6514-A is the Ford pn for the BOSS steel top spring collar.
Matching Ford single groove 7 degree keepers C9ZZ-6518-A

Some people say the same collars were used on 429CJ and 429SCJ. I haven't
checked that.

The Ford parts books show that the part numbers for all other 302 and 351
Fords are different than the ones for BOSS engines.

You're right- in that article, the retainers pictured are not stock steel
retainer washers. Stockers are the same for 260, 289, 302 and 351 engines,
both Windsor & Cleveland. In the article, they say the valves were replaced
with Pro Comp one-piece single-groove stainless valves, so I guess they also
supplied the single groove keepers and aftermarket retainers.
Big block keepers will be sized for 3/8" big block valve stems, so whether
they're too big to fit 351C retainers or not is a moot point; big block
valve stems won't fit in the 351-Cs' 11/32" valve guides. 429/460 stuff is
very
different even if the valve and port sizes are similar to the 4-V Cleveland.
