[DeTomaso] Windshield removal

I am also getting ready to extract my cracked windshield and will replace it with one of Wilkinson's flush mount versions. I would like to save my trim and the gasket to either set aside for future restoration or pass along to someone else.
So how should I go about it? First, I'll confirm that the trim does not seem to want to come out first. A little gentle picking and pulling tells me it's not coming out without damage. So I guess I remove the interior trim all around the glass, pad things up, position myself accordingly inside the cabin, apply sneakers to glass and push? A quick shove, slow and even pressure, more to the top or bottom? Some sort of lubricant (dish soap?) worked under the gasket flap? Maybe reinforce the glass with some tape?
My glass is already cracked so I've got nothing to lose, I'd rather not have broken glass all over. Let me know what you think and I'll give it a try and let you all know what happens.
