[DeTomaso] optical sensor ignitions, MSD boxes

Jim,
If you're talking about the fat power (red) wire on an MSD-6AL, yes it goes
directly to the battery which can also be the battery side of the starter
solenoid if it's closer. The thin red wire goes to the ignition switch.
The fat ground (black) wire needs to go to a good frame ground. But even
with the MSD box, it's TACH output may require one of their two tach
converter boxes for you tach to work correctly depending which type of tach
you have.
But didn't you get directions with your MSD? They should say the same
thing.

Subject: [DeTomaso] optical sensor ignitions, MSD boxes
Hi, all,
This question does not involve my Pantera because I had it changed to a
non-optical sensor in the distributor, but my Dino has a Crane / Allison
optical sensor and the tach has never worked entirely right with it.
(Needle floats / jumps a bit and drops to zero at redline)
A fellow Dino owner uses an optical sensor and an MSD box and says his tach
works fine.
So one option would be to install an MSD box, or so it would seem
What do you guys hook up the positive and negative "power" leads to, the
ones MSD says should go directly to the battery terminals?
Thanks,
Jim Oddie
