[DeTomaso] New engine

Mike,

I was told a long time ago, but have not confirmed, that a SBC bell housing is not the same depth as an LS series bell housing.  I have seen SBC bell housings for the ZF, but not LS specific bell housings.  I guess the folks who make adapters (Kennedy?) would know.

It would be interesting to price out some engine options comparing different Cleveland/Windsor based builds to LS series engines.  You might save enough $s by avoiding all the hastles and $s of a major swap (to an LS motor) to pay the extra cost of an aluminum SBF?  You also may lower the resale $s of a Pantera without a SBF.

All the late Ford engines are huge and complicated.  The GM LS engines can be had complete with more horses, more torque, smaller overall dimensions and
100 lbs lighter for the same $$$ or less.  I hear of a few conversions that were/are being done by individuals and some vendors.  Does anybody have more details?
The only report I saw recently had a car that was so "Ricer" looking overall that you could miss the engine swap.  Mike Trusty?  Guys in Europe?  If the Cleveland
ever comes out, this is the only swap I'd consider.
