Yes, but from what I've been reading and seeing, many of the "good"  
mufflers are see thru? Perhaps, Jim Gray's post could help.

logically no longer have any quieting effect.
 
Why not just use a straight pipe with those multi-disc adjustable  mufflers 
racers use when track regulations require it?
