Actually, I DID put the trim on last- several days after the glass went in.
But once in, I'd gotten used to the black appearance of only the gasket, so
out the trim came & its on a shelf in the shop. A batch of soapy water or
WD-40 in the L-shaped gasket slot for the trim allows it to slip right in- or
back out. As far as structural integrity, the windshield gasket RTV seems
to work nicely while allowing enough flex so the glass doesn't crack- as
has happened with some gasket-less windshields. Did I mention the last time I
had the glass out was 1992 and 50,000 miles ago when I painted our car in
the driveway? And the windshield still doesn't leak? Cheers- J Deryke
