RUSS FULPS & DAN JONES Please educate me.....

I know Dawgs can't read but we still like to look at the pictures.....a couple articles (really photos) in Hot Rod and Circle Track magazines got my attention this week.

Compared to what my street-modified Pantera Cleveland stroker is making that Russ Fulps built or what Dan "Wiki-Man" Jones has developed designed for others I thought the magazine HP numbers were pretty sad....Dan care to enlighten us with your Obi Wan like wisdom?

My street engine makes as measured at the rear wheels 500+ hp on a chassis dyno ...Thats at the rear wheels....I know others who make more....but then they don't know how to use it either! ;-) Okay, mine has a roller cam, 302B heads and efi and some Russ 'JuJu-Juice' Fulps trickery but when I see engines advertised today for $25-35K that only make 425-250Hp on a chassis dyno I know I gotta be missing something. Isn't that really about 350-400 HP at the rear wheels?

What is it besides the argument that these new Windsor engines are better designed that make them really any better?.....I mean would not a better idea be the NEW 5.4 aluminum modular block that makes an easy 550-600HP and more importantly is a 100+ pounds LIGHTER look one hellva lot better in the back of a Pantera?!!!
I regress.........

If the Windsor engines were so much better designed you wouldn't still see Clevelands in demand.....then again I could be wrong...I was wrong once.

One of the engines noted in Circle Track was Ford's new Boss 351 block with the N351 cast iron heads...Circle Track article mentioned that (in-their-words) in terms of power this new Windsor wasn't any better then the older Windsors. Dyno HP as measured on the engine highlighted seemed pretty low (444HP at 6,500) for a circle track race car...no doubt great power to weight ratio for a stock car but for you roundy round racers who follow circle track racing what am I missing here?

Dreaming about what to spend my M.E. Oil money on during 2011!

Give me a amen!
