[DeTomaso] Port Stuffers

Chuck,

Terry Parker recommends ZSpar Splash Zone epoxy for installing his port
plates so your engine guy knows what he's talking about.

I called tech support at Goodson and they couldn't verify that the PRK-99
port epoxy they sell is the same stuff as ZSpar Splash Zone. Do you
remember where you heard that what Goodson sells is repackaged ZSpar? He
did say though that the stuff they sell has a 2 year shelf life and bonds to
both cast iron and roughed-up aluminum.

The cheapest place I've found ZSpar Splash Zone epoxy is at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Z-Spar-Splash-Zone-Compound-Epoxy-Putty-2-Qt-Kit_W0QQite
mZ250556751506QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a56589e92

but its the dual quart size while Goodson's appear to be in 8oz cans which
should be more than enough for a pair of heads.

Dear Paul,

Here are the details. One shouldn't rely on memory always. The
stock 4v head without stuffers and without a bowl job flowed 280 cfm.
Stock head without stuffers and with a bowl job flowed 294 cfm. The stock
4v head with stuffers and clay plus the bowl job produced maximum flow of
308 cfm. From .300 inch lift to .500 inch flow was about 15% higher than
without the port stuffer.

The epoxy favored by the engine guys is: ZSpar Splash Zone,
apparently also known as KopCoat. It is reportedly available in small
quantities from a placed called Goodson. It is reportedly a bit expensive
and has a shelf life of about a year I am told, so the smaller quantity
should work best with the port stuffer project.

                  Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

So I have a Parker Funnelweb intake that I'm going to put on my engine
and it uses port stuffers. How do people install the port stuffers in
the head? The website says epoxy. Is there a particular type of epoxy
that is used or do people just use JB Weld?
