[DeTomaso] washer knob

That's what I was afraid you were going to say!

I could try some liquid wrench or something, but since it's horizontal I don't think it will be too effective. Taking a tiny saw to it might be the only way to get it off. A heat gun might do some good, but I don't want to risk messing up the dashboard.

I'll put it out to the forum to see if anyone else has a suggestion or two.

Sincerely,

Chris

I received the new washer knob--thank you.

My problem is, when I try to remove the old one, I push a small implement into the hole on the bottom to remove the old knob, but it won't budge. It's like it's permanently attached to the shaft.

I don't want to pull on it so hard it breaks the switch, so I'm wondering what suggestions you might have to help me remove it so I can put on the new one.

I don't know what to tell you, except to perhaps use some sort of WD-40 etc. on it. You can see how simple the system works--it's just a plunger on the shaft of the switch. But the plastic of the knob has probably fused onto the switch.

I had a hell of a time getting mine apart when I took my Pre-L dash apart in the early 1990s. I think I wound up using a saw and cutting the knob into pieces. :<(
