When things cool off - you and the car - open up the thermostat  
housing and remove the thermostat.

Start her up again.

Sounds like you are getting zero, or very little,  coolant flow in the  
system.  Easiest first place to trouble shoot a blockage is that  
thermostat.

Next would be the water pump.  There is a belt on it, right?

We're here for you.  and we will get her fixed.

But you knew that already, right?  ;-)
