I second what Julian recommends.
 
I have this tester and it is beautifully made.
 
I recommend that when you have the piston at TDC you put the car in  5th 
gear with parking brake on so the engine cannot rotate. Remember you will  
have around 100psi of air pressure a 4 inch piston. This is about 1,250 pounds  
trying to push the piston down.
