[DeTomaso] serial number

I don't think it matters either way as De Tomaso just hand stamped the number at the rear of the block and it bears no relation to engine casting #. The numbers are often difficult to find and read anyway. Just beacuse a block has a number on it that matches the engine plate wouldn't guarantee anything in my book as its all too easy just to stamp that number on any block....... just like the factory did all those years ago.

 

Does anyone know if the Ford records actually have Ford's engine #'s allocated to a VIN......now that would be useful information for those few who might be interested in authenticity.
