Brian,

That "mystery relay" looks like an inline circuit breaker that somebody stuck in there. Mikes guess that it was part of the stereo installation is probably a pretty good one.

P.S.   The thing labelled "B" in the photo looks very, very scary to me.   It's not a De Tomaso part; it's something that somebody just butchered in there.   Bare, naked terminals, probably with 12V coursing through them, yikes!

Your car had a crazy stereo setup in it at one point; this is probably related to that.   If it needs to stay, it needs to be thoroughly insulated with electrical tape.   If it's no longer being used, it needs to go!
