I recommend you mark the flywheel like the factory did on the later 
cars. That way you can check and adjust the timing without having to get 
to the balancer, even though that procedure is simpler now on your car. 
It also makes you immune to balancer slipping.

My stock flywheel had marks at 0° and 16° BTDC, and I added that to my 
aluminum flywheel as well.

I painted a white line across the ring and hub on my new balancer. This 
shows any slipping immediately.
