I think it is cheaper to build an SBC up to a point because their parts are made in higher numbers.  But like a lot of stuff, a good engine builder makes all the difference.

I'll take your word for it.
I just know that my SBC runs stronger, and at higher rpm's, than my Clevelands. Plus the parts are easier to find and cheaper.
