Combustion chambers today in all high production engines are designed with the following three primary key elements in mind:

1. Complete as possible combustion within the engine to lower emissions, so to meet government requirements.
2. Fuel economy, so to meet government requirements.
3. Power, to reduce powertrain size and weight, so to meet government requirements.


In spite of that we have today many outstanding examples of high performance powerplants.

It is so easy for an intelligent and knowledgeable independent engine designer to improve horsepower and torque.

The ability to produce high power has been there for many years but the engines would not live in everyday use.
New materials and high levels of quality have changed that in the last ten years.
