There are several different models. The large ones have been copied and
re-copied, and are available in fiberglass and carbon fiber. They do work
well, but are ugly, and block vision to the rear, which can be critical in
lane-changes.

There are several different lower-profile scoops out there; their utility
is questionable. While the large ones do stick out large enough to have a
noticeable ram air function, the small ones are in a low pressure area, and
tuft tests have actually showed air coming OUT of that region rather than in!

If you're looking for a source for quality cool air, you're probably better
off following the factory example and taking the air from under the car.
Early Panteras had the air cleaner snorkel pointing back towards the left
rear tire, but later on the snorkel was pointed towards the passenger seat,
and connected to an air scoop at the bottom of the engine bay with flexible
ducting. Ugly, but probably quite effective. An aux air valve (vacuum
operated) was located at the 9 o'clock position (facing the gas tank) on the air
cleaner, and would open to admit additional air when necessary.

Mike
