[DeTomaso] original block question

Hey Chris,
I'm in a similar situation - i've got a new engine going in, and am wondering what I should do with the mostly stock one coming out.

Being a bit of a "doom and gloom" pessimist that I am, I figure the continued vilification of oil will make it more difficult over the next 5-10 years to run aftermarket engines in our P-cars. Having a stocker to swap in every 2 years for a "check" may be a good idea.

Plus, the fact that my new engine will be turning around 571hp, one may not expect it to last or be as reliable as the old stocker. I personally like having an extra laying around, mostly ready to drop in, just in case...

Subject: [DeTomaso] original block question

I have a new motor in my Pantera, and was told I should keep the old one in case someone ever wants to buy the car and have the original motor included in the sale (for increased resale value).

1) Is this a good idea, or because Panteras are so often modified anyway, is it a moot point?

2) If it is a good idea to keep the original, can I sell all the parts except the block and be OK, or are there other engine parts I need to keep so it will still be classified as "the original engine?"

Thanks,

Chris
