[DeTomaso] Insurance.

I went through a lengthy exercise of comparing the major companies to insure my vehicles. One prime concern was being able to track the cars in non competitive PDX/HDPE track days.

Heacock came in with the lowest quote and were by far the most pleasant to deal with, however, I have no knowledge of whether that pleasantness extends once a claim is filed.

Grundy were the most restrictive, for instance the car would not be insured parked at a track even in the car park! In the end I stayed with American Hobbyist (whom have just adopted their parent Company name of American Collectors). They were competitive, but moreover their lack of track exclusions fitted my needs. They did make me sign a waver specific to the Ultima as in their words 'it looks like a race car', but even so the waiver was no 'timed or competitive racing' leaving HDPE track days open.

Hagerty have the best reputation when it comes to a claim, but their rates on the Ultima alone were as much as I pay for 5 cars with American Hobbyist and they have full track exclusions.

Julian
