My experience is only second-hand so take it with the appropriate grain of
salt.
I've never heard of anybody running a 235/40-17 front tire. Everybody I
know runs the 245/40 (or 245/45-16, and I'm running 245/50-15). The fender
lips need to be rolled on a Pre-L car; L-models came from the factory with
the lips rolled. The tires will rub on the inside of the fenderwell
(against the outside of the panel that makes up the front trunk) at full lock. So
what? It won't affect you in the slightest, and you'll never even know
that it's touching until you pull the wheel and see where the undercoating has
been rubbed away.
Assuming you roll the fenderwells, you'll have no problems at all. :>)
