[DeTomaso] efi horse power gain

As Kirby says the long rocker fuel tanks on the GT40 create a lot of fuel slosh and one thing you don't want is a high pressure fuel pump to run dry at any time.

The swirl tank allows me to retain the exisitng low pressure system and fuel pumps. They will feed into the swirl tank which is the supply for the EFI pump and high pressure return. The overflow from this tank is then directed back to its respective fuel supply tank.

For the Pantera an in tank returnless system is probably the way to go. I will likely use a fuel cell in the Pantera, although I have no idea what race sanctioning bodies regulations are in regard to in cell fuel pumps.

For more information on EFI plumbing and swirl tanks etc. Kinsler has a good section in their catalog which can be dowloaded from their webiste. I tend to believe this and TWM more for the 8 stack IR throttle body injections as Aeromotive don't have products in this area.

Julian

Not a trivial task to mount a pump in the tank on a GT40.

You would effectively have to build a new tank (or modify the existing one internally) to create a baffled area for the pump inside the tank. Mike Trusty and I have spoke about this numerous times.

I understand the logic for the separate surge tank, but Aeromotive is one of the big guns in high power EFI fuel systems, and they don't seem to talk about the separate tank. They do make a big deal about mounting the high pressure EFI pump in the fuel tank and one of their tech guys told me that the pump works better and longer submerged in the tank.

Ah, yes.... another person doing IR EFI on a GT40. Let us know how you
get on!
Jack Houpe, Mike Trusty and myself all have a TWM setup with a TEC3r
(Jack uses a TEC2) on our GT40's.

Each one of us attacked the twin tank fuel feed setup differently. I
need to re-plumb my fuel system. I have a 'better idea' than what I am
using now.
