[DeTomaso] Throw-Out Bearing Incorrectly Installed?

I've put about 30 miles on The Winged Warrior and the clutch action is getting worse and worse, to the point where I can't even change gears, or get it in first gear. I had to start out in second and could barely shift on the highway to get home.
>From the get-go the pedal has felt weird, like I'm pushing through several layers.
It's a new clutch disc and rebuilt pressure plate.
The hydraulics seem to be working, as I'm getting allot of motion at the slave linkage, but I'm going to re-bleed it in the AM. I may also re-build the slave, as I'd rather exhaust all possibilities before pulling the ZF back. The CNC master is only about three years old, but it (sadly) sat for 1/2 that time.
I wasn't watching when my helper mounted the throw-out bearing and I've found other items he screwed up (like not removing the backing before installing the intake manifold gaskets-duh) and I've already had to re-do most of his work, so why not the throw-out?
Does anyone know how it would act if it's on wrong? Or what else could be acting up?

Dan

PS: Here's my list of re-do's for the morning: Pulling the Air-Gap to re-gasket, grind some material for socket access to the thermostat housing bolts and fab a throttle cable mounting bracket. Switching out the fan control relays, trying different donuts to seal the header flange (juicy backfire on deceleration), adding exhaust gaskets to the brass 2bbl to 4 bbl header adapters for a better seal, changing the advance springs as the timing was initially not advancing with rpm, and a couple other items I'm forgetting about now.
