[DeTomaso] Carb Problem?

     2556 is not running great.  I'm thinking it is sometimes running a 
little rich at idle?  Other times the idle speeds up a couple hundred rpm 
and the car accelerates off idle better.  The car apparently has a new or 
rebuilt stock carb?  On one or two occasions,  it has leaked gas filling 
part of the top of the manifold.  I assume the leaking gas is caused by a 
sticking or improperly adjusted float?  Could the float adjustment be 
causing my seemingly rich idle situation? Where do I start?
