Just remember to wear ear (and eye) protection because the hand drill locked
on full speed is typically rather loud.

Well damn.
I was thinking that if I had a jeweller's lathe I could just turn down the
heads.
Then you go and invent a perfectly good redneck jeweller's-lathe.
I'll be remembering this for future use.

After I found the right thread size and length stainless screws (don't
remember where I got them) their head diameter was too large. I just
chucked them into my electric drill, locked the drill in my bench vise and
used a metal file to reduce the head diameter of the spinning screw.
Followed by successively finer sandpaper and then a full polish of the head
for a brilliant shine.

Dave
I used allen head bolts. They are not stainless but they are black
something and they are not rusty.
Another thing I thought was a good idea is I installed little tiny o rings
on the bolts. When you do this it seals the bolts against the lense, keeps
them from coming loose and adds another cushion to the lense so you are
less
likely to crack.

I just bought some new euro lenses and the old screws are showing some
corrosion.
New, stainless ones would be nice, but the head diameter is way
smaller than a standard oval-head.
I see there is an "oval trim" head which sounds right, but I don't see
anyone selling them. They measure as M4.2 x 20
thanks
