You need to find a new tire guy.   That one is a buffoon. :<(

That's per DOT regulation (and in fact, international regulation) how the 
speed rating is displayed on vehicle tires.   The Maxxis site claims that the 
US-market tires has a service description of "108H", instead of "108V" which is 
what the photo shows from the German-procured tires.   

108H indicates that the tire has a load capacity of 2205 pounds, and an "H" 
speed rating.
