If you use a std zerk, the greasegun won't attach. I recommend attaching in 
the depressed center using a 1/2" long extension. I did mine in the late '80s 
and they work just fine. FWIW, you should also do the tie rod ends. In all the 
joints you'll only get two or three threads but thats enough. Tap 1/4-28 
thread.

THeres a coil spring inside to keep tension on the ball. Drilling here, you 
can nick the spring, failing it. Good luck- J Deryke
