It's important to mention that this job is *much* easier on the cars with the 
two-pod dashboard.   The shift gate comes out, and with it the uphostered 
wooden pad that the gate sits on/in.   Then you have ready access to the plunger 
etc. underneath.

The one-pod dashboards have a different center console, and the whole console 
must be removed (or at least raised up quite a bit) to access this thing, and 
that normally entails removing screws that hold it in at the bottom.   So 
it's a bit more work.
