Keep in mind also that not all Panteras 'fit' some fiberglas low profile
headlight buckets from our vendors very well. I remember one such 'kit' often
used on early Panteras, that took several weeks of sanding, filing and
bondo-work before its contours were deemed an acceptible fit to a wide-body car. The
owner was not pleased with the amount of work required on top of the substantial
price charged. Then of course, they needed paint....
A second approach are the 'kits' that use your OEM steel buckets cut down,
with the top that fits in the fender opening epoxied back on. This has the
advantage of not needing paint, but several owners have found these tops flying
over the top of the car at higher speeds as the glue bond failed, one causing
some damage to the roof. There's a large amount of aero-force on those buckets
even with the headlights down, at high speeds. Remember Al Bloomberg's lights
that rose up at speed, shearing a 1/4" bolt used to lock the lights down at
Bonneville? Mechanical attachment of the cut parts or a one-piece bucket seems a
stronger, more dependable method for 'low profile' headlights. FWIW- J DeRyke
