[DeTomaso] ls engines

They beat them first with a 289 in 1964...Cobra Daytona coupe 2299 at Le Mans. And outright, with the 427.

I don't think Ferrari was going for "refinement" as their only goal. An OHC V12 is their tradition and that's what they stuck with, God bless that mentality.

If Ford would've done that, we could have an all aluminum 289 HiPo with 6 bolt mains, a dry sump all attached to a T-56. That makes me want to pull my pants down.

Thinking back to the 60, didn't Ford finally beat Ferrari with a pushrod 427 and 4 speed?  And didn't Ferrari eventually get the rules changed so they could be competitive with their "refined" engines?

But pushrods lack "refinement" and numerous other unquantifiable feel
good
terms that people like to throw around as justification for undue complexity
and having paid too much for their cars.
