Thinking back to the 60, didn't Ford finally beat Ferrari with a pushrod
427 and 4 speed? And didn't Ferrari eventually get the rules changed
so they could be competitive with their "refined" engines?
Ken

I have seen exsotic cars from that era that have "dry sump", an
"all aluminium engine", "4 over head camchafts" etc. The problem was
that the car also had an old 100p steering system, an oiltank like an
cube, and cams for 5000 rpm. But the customer could speak about
all the racing features people asked for at the time. He newer had any
need for them anyway, so he managed just fine without rack and
pinion and all other drawbacks.
