I spoke to the mechanic and he just got off the phone with
Precisionproperformance who worked on the car previously.

The car has absolutely no spark this morning.

Right now the interior is coming out so he can to get to the
distributor.

The investigation continues...

I still think you have a mess of rust, rust flakes or dirt that floats
free when the car isn't running, when the pumps starts sucking, it all
starts compacting around the inlet and eventtually stops the flow of
gas.

That can happen anywhere between the tank and the nozzle. ( tank,
filter, carb bowls )

have you checked any of these possibilities out?

What I meant to say in my previous post is that my mechanic is back on
the job today.

He owns a 1974 L and a couple of 1960's era vintage Corvettes.

He has done a lot of work for San Diego Pantera Club members. He also
purchased 3 or so Panteras when they were sold BRAND NEW.

What baffles me as a novice owner is why the car will run perfectly for
5 miles, or so, and then crap out.

Those flashes are a sign of mis-timing. Check your distirbutor for
pin failure; check (haha not easy) timing chain for wear.

You should get specific instructions about this stuff, if not ask me
when I have sometime.

good luck
