[DeTomaso] Intake for 2v heads

I like this advice, Jack!
I don't have to put yet another quality Pantera part on the shelf and I don't have to wait for a shipment to delay my re-assembly.
So I can continue to use my 4v Performer?
I'm running a Holley 750, dual feed. Too much carb now?
Here's the million dollar question: can I run my Weber intake with the 2v heads?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a somewhat modified,10.25:1, hydraulic cam, 280/284 duration, 540 lift, intended for street use and lower rpm powerband (5,500 max)?
Sure do: ANY 4-V intake when bolted to 2-V heads will really enhance the acceleration and lower end of the powerband. The giant mismatch in port sizes acts like an anti-reversion step (for which you pay extra with other setups). Up around 5500 rpms, the power will drop off rapidly but as I said, in the lower rpm ranges, both power and mileage increase noticably. I lent an old Holley open-plenum intake as an experiment on a fairly heavily built-up 351C in a friend's Pantera, and he was ecstatic- he wouldn't give my intake back! He said all of a sudden, driving the car on the steet was fun once again. So give it one of your old intakes a try- you may be pleasantly surprised and save a couple hundred $$! Good luck, Dan- J Deryke
