I've used a patented 'glass repair kit, and they only work on very specific 
windshield defects- not on chips and not on side windows or backlight glass. 
With cracks, you first STOP-DRILL each leg of the crack thru the outer layer of 
a std 2-piece windshield, then pressure-inject a plastic that has about the 
same clarity as glass, curing it under pressure overnight. Over time, the 
plastic's color gradually yellows.
So a cheap repair kit from JC Whitney might buy you enough time to find a 
source for replacement glass. Cops will write a fix-it ticket for a cracked 
windshield if they spot it while you're driving, or if you get stopped for 
something else. Then you have 30 days to fix it or the ticket escalates to something
