As a first guess, the engine torque in 1st gear is maximum so possibly 
frame-twist is causing the problem. If this has just started happening, I'd look for 
a crack somewhere. On Panteras, its sometimes caused by a worn, loose or 
misaligned shift rod support under the left header but on yours, I dunno. Panteras 
also sometimes have wear in the shift lever assembly, that can be shimmed. As 
far as worn parts, on Panteras, the shift-rod u-joints are identical to the 
steering shaft u-joints so they'r quite available. Good luck- J DeRyke
