  Maybe I missed it, but why does 10% alcohol make such a big difference in octain?  Actually, I think most aftermarket ECUs can save more than 1 program, so you could have a separate program for E85.
   
  But this all sound to simple.  If all you have to do is add 10% alcohol to get 105 octain, whay does anyone run race gas?
   
  How does this compare to the people running a 50% alcohol mix in their water injection?  If the ECU can determine when you're approaching detination and turn on the water/acohol injection to an appropriate level, does it do the same thing for octain as running E85? seems a lot easier.

And Jack, Sorry to say, that 10% ethanol does not change the operation of
the engine at all. We have had 10% ethanol in gas here in Illinois for
over 20 years. We also have gas without Ethanol. Running it in anything
from lawn mowers to cars makes no difference at all. We have been doing it
for 25 years.
