The usual fix for this is to fit bronze bushings at the throttle shafts.
Involves disassembly, boring the body and pressing in the bushings.
Jack DeRyke has also mentioned a fix using teflon o-rings and a light
spring with washer.

I'd find someone else to work on the carb.  Holley's have been OEM fitment
on many autos, as late as 1985 Mustang 5.0L's.
