Hi Chuck,
I'm the new old kid on the block.

I the past my experence has been that some times when
replacing a slave or wheel cylinder that the master
(though had been ok) now gets dammaged in the process
of bleeding the new slave/wheel cylinder. Due to the
fact the master piston travels into the bore farther
than it had been because of lack of fluid until air is
bleed out. This allows the seals to travel into what
had been an unused area and crud in that area does a
number on the seals.

Does pumping the pedal improve travel action?

Just a thought.

Dear Dave,

Yes the plunger rod thingee is the
threaded rod that
 connects
the slave piston to the clutch lever arm. Since I
lengthened it to
 take
out the half inch of free play in the slave cylinder
(?), I was able to

actually put the car into gear. Afterwards, the
clutch felt pretty
 close
to normal as I recall.

The master cylinder is original, I
think. The slave
 is
new. No low level of fluid. No leakage noted.

Exactly where is the desert are you?

                                      Warmest regards,
 Chuck Engles
