Build the 2-bolt. Add close-fit dowl pins instead of 2 extra bolts to keep
the cap walking to a minimum. 450 HP and 6300rpm no problem. Above that
gets statistically less certain.

Subject: [DeTomaso] 2 bolt vs 4 bolt Mains......care to offer an
opinion??

I just pulled the Cleveland out of my '72 Pantera and discovered that it has
2-bolt mains with closed-chamber heads. I assume it is out of a Torino or
such. I'm looking to build a 450hp mild-performance engine for street and
ORR. Any one want to voice an opinion on what to do?
A - Go ahead and build it with the 2-bolt main block and just keep the rpms
below 6300.
B - Build a grocery-getter and forget about running ORRs.
C - Bite the bullet and locate a rebuildable 4-bolt block and start over.
D - Find the deepest lake within a one-day drive and pitch the 2-bolt block
somewhere near the center of the lake.
E - Some combination of the above.
