Correct, especially if things get over-hot back there or if the motor mounts 
get a little loose. I'd lower it a bit, or consider shifting the whole 
powertrain backwards a little. This will not only move the bellhousing out of range, 
it will give a little more room for a big-cap distributor. The shifter u-joint 
will accept quite a bit of misalignment. On some Panteras, the side-to-side 
adjustment in the frame mounting hole is also off and the linkage then gets 
very close to the leading edge of the inner wheelwell. With this problem, you 
have the option of pounding a small dent in the fender. Good luck- J Deryke
