..... and with K & Ns, its mandatory that you clean it with THEIR cleaner. 
Using diswashing soap & water has been shown multiple times to permanently swell 
the fibers in K & N filters, closing up the filter pores and reducing a 
filter's effectiveness enough to change an engine's dyno readings. The latest on 
this was in a recent Circle Track magazine, and it took an experienced engine 
shop days to figure out why the power dropped off during a rebuild. FWIW- J
