Firefighter and General Ball Buster,

Of course I am correct. Why are you driving BFG Y (186 mph) rated radial tires? I'll tell you why.

Its because you have been to Silver State before, you've done your homework and you eventually plan to go faster then 124MPH ;-]> And you also want the best high speed radial tires under your backside, right?

Erik Petterson the head tech at Silver State last year agreed that the age requirement is not an issue in the Touring and Grand Touring (140 top speed) divisions....even in the fastest divisions he is now willing to waive the age requirement.

Eric also agreed that the old H or U rated tires for Pantera or Mangusta guys running on original 15" Campy rims in a Pantera in the Touring division is okay assuming they are not beat up, have flat spots from tracking or any noticable sidewall cracking. Again we had not tire tech issues in 2007 and I don't expect any in 2008.

There are a total of 8-9 ORR's with 4 sanctioning bodies....Silver State's tire tech rules are the toughtest but it is the fastest orr road. look at this way.....Michael Frazier only drives 107 MPH in ORR but he still has Y (186 mph) high speed radials.

  Dawg,
It appears that you are not entirely correct. :-)) The Touring
division only requires "U" rated tires (124 mph). The grand touring
division only requires "V" rated tires, which allow a tech speed of 140
mph. Beginning with the grand sport division, "tires should not be more
than two years old". I don't see an age restriction for tires in the
touring and grand touring divisions?
