[DeTomaso] Fuel Cells Aerotech in Sante Fe Springs

I talked to Aero Tech http://www.aerotechservicesinc.com/technology.shtml in Sante Fe Springs, CA, and they said $1000 to $2000 for a custom fuel cell, at least that's less than $5K.  They're just down the street from me, so I may drop by next week,   They said if you bring in a metal box, they will make a fuel cell to fit in it.  They said they have made fuel cells for Jay Leno's cars, so I guess they are well known.

of the stock front trunk (a 20 gal gas tank might be a little easier?).
The 10gal cells that I've seen have been customized to conform to the
shape of the front trunk but not require major modifications to the
structure. I don't think you could get more than a 5 gal rectangle cell
up there.



Why would you want a fuel cell in a street car?

I'm looking at the nose fuel cell as a space management
solution. I am trying to build an efficient and fairly compact twin
turbo motor and actually have luggage space. I also want short and as
close to straight headers as possible, and I think the best solution is
to hang the turbos off the heads on each side of the engine. The only
way I think I can do that is to move the gas tank to the nose. Because
at least some of the ORRs are ran at high altitudes, an efficient turbo
motor should be an excellent approach.



I talked to Wilkinson last year, and I think he said they
were able to fit a 20 gal conformal fuel cell into the nose of a
Pantera. I think a generic rectangular cell is limited to about 10 gal.



I admit that this is becoming something of an engineering
exercise, but that's something I enjoy.

I know being newly undead and all is challenging but if
you read that
and do
the math and notice the comma placement, it says "street
car" at 15-17
mpg
and if you go back to the first part, a 100 mile race
with 12 gallons is
more like 8.5 mpg.

The crack I have ever smoked was from friction.
