Another suggestion for those having trouble getting a mechanical pump
with 
the proper fittings to fit their customized fuel lines: the bases come
off most 
pumps with a series of screws, and can be swapped from one pump to
another as 
they almost all use the same pattern. This not only allows using a
'custom' or 
special pump bottom, but also allows clocking of the pump inlet/outlet
so the 
hard lines miss nearby components.  FWIW- J DeRyke
