  FWIW, Toyo lists an 8" wide wheel within their recommended rim width range for the Proxes S/T in a 295/50/15. 8" is the lower limit and 10" is the upper limit.

  BFG also includes an 8" wheel in the acceptable "rim width range" for their 295/50/15 Radial T/A. 
  As a matter of fact, 8" is the lower limit and 10" is the upper limit.
